hi im looking for a new hiking pack.
here is what im looking for
- not made in asia( so US, Canada ,Europe, etc)
-durable
-comfortable
-not looking for tactical but if it is border line like say a kelty map 3500 then that's fine
- around 2000 cubic inches but im also looking for another on around 3500 cubic inches for when i go camping
- under $180
thanks

The MAP3500 is assembled in the Phillipines. It's a great pack, I've carried one since about '03 without issue.

ive looked at sand piper of california but all of their US made pack are tactical which is not really what im looking for

Duluth pack wanderer.
$175, comes in different colors.
made in Minnesota.
(Frost River is very nice also - but it's hard to find one of their packs under $180)

Some of Gregory's packs are made in the USA it looks like and I have been very happy with mine. I have the Baltoro 65, fits like a dream!

If you want simple, extremely durable, made in the USA, and not at all tactical....I can't recommend Frost River packs enough.

i have heard good thing about frost river and duluth but im not really into the canvas bags

Mission Workshop might have some that fit. More of a bikers backpack, but I have not heard anything bad about their construction.

I was going to ask on here if anybody used their packs on here but did not get around to it.

I like the idea of waterresistant\rainproof pack but they are pricey

im thinking of going with one of the snugpak packs that are made in the uk

So, why, may I ask aren't you just going with the MAP?

I'll second Mystery Ranch, though I'm not sure they're in your price range. Cilo Gear are made to order in Portland, OR; very cool but very climber oriented. A bit less expensive than Mystery.

Mile High Mountaineering makes some cool packs and they're priced pretty well. They're not Chinese-made, but are manufactured in Asia; Korea or the Phillipines, I believe.
