Just sharing a few thoughts and some bad pics on my recent backpacking trip up the Gray Wolf River and Dungeness River trails in the Olympics.
I wanted to confirm that my BK7 would be more than adequate for food, shelter, and fire prep when backpacking, and it did not disappoint. I love my Crewman, but the 7 may be the better choice for these longer distance scenarios. At least for me and my current toolset, anyway.
It just fills the sweet spot for weight and functionality when carrying loads for longer trips. This trip was 20 miles round-trip over 3 days and I'm old as dirt, so everything is heavy
I matched it with new spec ops/texas hunt sheath and some saint micarta, and the thing just kept performing as required, including considerable batoning. The sheath was very comfortable and accessible. I may revert to the grivory, as I didn't mark a huge improvement with these specific micarta slabs.
This tool will be hard to displace. Sorry for the bad pics. Just wanted to share my findings.
