So I'll be traveling through Thailand for about a month soon and I'm unsure as to what the knife laws are and what I should bring along. I have searched online about the knife laws in Thailand but can't seem to get a straight answer. so if anyone has been there and can help me out that would be great.

Also I'm looking for a knife that will be a great utility blade as well as something that will cope well with the salt water and humidity. I was looking at the pacific salt from syderco, but that's a typical water knife. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I've been traveling through Thailand off and on for fifteen years. You can pretty much cary whatever you want, so long as you stay out of trouble and don't do something stupid like bring a fixed-blade to a bar or start waving a knife around in the cities.

I've carried folders and fixed blades. Doesn't seem to matter in the country. In the cities I left my fixed blades in my pack. If you get sideways with the law your simply phuucked, but it would be unlikely that just possessing a knife will get you into trouble. That said, I never carried any real large, ramboesque fighting knives. Stay away from anything that looks like a fighting knife.

Everything rusts over there...even some stainless steels.

Thanks for the info. The last thing I want to do is get in trouble with the cops over there. I can't imagine a jail in thailand to be a nice place. Lol

Ill probably just carry something cheap that I won't care to loose or rust up on me. My tenacious might work great.
