There's two types of people. One think that it is good for a knife to have a backspacer which makes it more comfortable to use. Although other think that it's an extra piece in a knife that makes it more difficult to clean.
What do you think?

I honestly don't care one way or the other at all.

If the knife doesn't have one, then it does blow out easier with some canned air and is easier to put back together if I should take it apart for some reason.

If it comes with one, then in my mind it's never a bad thing to have more points of contact holding the knife together. Cleaning doesn't really enter my mind too much. Take a look at the exposed carbon back springs down inside an old slip joints if you want to see a horror show ;)

Currently, my EDC doesn't have a spacer, but it was such a non-issue I had to go look to see if it had one or not.

There are 3 types of people.......

The third type carry Fixed blades, and thinking your are probably talking about that cowboy movie that came out a few years ago........ ???

:O

I have never held a knife which I thought would be more comfortable with a backspacer or less comfortable without one. Perhaps all the open-handled knives I have are particularly well designed, but it seems to be more an aesthetic choice than anything else.

I have similar knives with them and without them, it makes no difference to me. There’s no felt difference in the hand having the backspacer and it doesn’t prevent the knife from getting any dirtier inside than if the spacer wasn’t there I’ve found. I’ve also never cut myself on a knife that didn’t have one as some will claim.
