Has anyone seen a backspacer made out of wood? I've seen titanium, aluminum, G10, carbon fiber, but I don't think I've seen wood.
Seeing all of the pictures of backspacers got me thinking... I have a scrap piece of purple heart that I might give a go with. A quick look at some charts says purple heart has a tensile strength of 21000 PSI, which seems like it would work find for a backspacer.

Though I haven’t seen a backspacer made of wood, I am intrigued. What type of finishing or sealing for the wood, or stabilizing the scrap before shaping? Stand-off inserted in the wood for the screws on the rear?

also, I assumed a sebenza...is that a correct assumption?

If I have time this weekend I'll give it a try. And yes I'd try for a small 31, inkosi would be harder. As for stabilizing it...well for most wood that is an issue but purple heart doesn't need anything. Its stable enough as is.

Here the first version, that I made this morning out of some oak to see if it would work. Theres a slight gap so I'll have to adjust the thickness next time.

But all in all it turned out pretty good.
