Hey Guys

I'm currently looking for a 2nd EDC to give my ZT a break from time to time. Just for the usual cutting chores/jobs
At the moment I'm eyeing the Benchmade Griptillian 551S and the Spyderco Native Serrated but can't decide

What are your opinions? ( Thanks in advanced :) )

Both are excellent knives, but the Native uses S30V steel and occupies far less real estate than the Grip.

+1. You can't go wrong with either but buy what you like. Personally I lean towards the Native, due to the slightly wider blade and better cutting geometry

A knife with a thinner handle carries and hides more easily; spends more time in my pocket. I do NOT notice a longer blade-length at all, and in fact prefer about 3 1/2", as long as the handle is thin.

I have both. Both are great. In summary, get both.

But seriously :) ... I tend to prefer the Grip over the Native usually.

I prefer the grip over the Native. I also generally tend to appreciate BM's beefier style to Spyderco's sleek slicers.

Don't have a Native but, after suggestions from many, I currently carry an Endura; helluva a knife. by the same token I have an orange Ritter Grip that is just a fine knife; crry it a lot during hunting season. Sooooooo, would guess either one would suit.

For me, I like the griptilian much better than the native.

djjonny, being that you are looking for a serrated knife I'll add another suggestion: spyderco salt 1 or spyderco pacific salt. From my understanding, when H1 has serrations ground onto it, it turns into a cutting animal.

Thanks for all your help guys.

I agree on all spyderco points but decided on the BM due to ergo

Nothing wrong with spyderco ergo for me but the BM just feels right in my hand.

I Just Love The Ergos And How The Native Feels In The Hand.
It's Not Overly Thick But Is Solid And Great.
It Has The s30v Steel Vs. 154cm But Both Are Good.
I Just Prefer The Native.

I Feel The Native Is Just As Well Built And Costs Less. And It Is Made In The USA So That Can't Be A Turn Off.

good thing you had a chance to hold the BM before you made your decision. it really is a very good EDC.
