Everyone knows I'm the knife guy in my various social circles. There are those inevitable times when someone will ask to borrow a knife. There's no way in hell I'm handing a $2200 custom to a NKP to be potentially abused so I carry a designated Loaner (which also serves as my left hand reverse grip knife). For me, it's my waved SMF. If someone can unintentionally ruin it, my hat's off to them!

That is still pretty nice, even for a loaner! I was thinking perhaps a chinese made kershaw.

I wish my loaner was a Strider haha!

Mine is usually a combo edge Buck rescue knife that lives in my car door panel.

I let people use a gerber and keep my carry safe from potential abuse. Nice combination you got goin on there. Who ever uses your loaner is a very lucky person.

I usually let them use my skelatool multi-tool, but unless I,m carrying one of my Yellowhorse buck110's
Then my usually carry is a sog vulcan or a becker fixed blade lately, so it would be hard to ruin either and if they did it wouldn't be a catastrophe.
I don't think I would be comfortable carryinga blade as expensive as yours (I'm very good at misplacing things)
And losing something that Beautiful would devastate me.
On another note I absolutely love that watch of yours.

I dont have a strider so I cant imagine having a strider loaner haha, but you are correct it would be very difficult for somebody to screw it up. I rarely loan any knife, besides if they dont have a knife thats not my problem so im not gonna carry a knife just to loan to somebody else, they should be prepared instead of relying on somebody else who is prepared. As far as backups go I carry several knives at all times, cold steel kobun in my boot and 2-3 folders for different purposes.

Salute to you CM. I can't afford a Strider for my use. When I think of a loaner it's usually a well sharpened Byrd Cara Cara bought for about $19. A lot of people won't even get that from me depending on them. Safety scissors for those kind. If that's not good enough too bad.

In addition to whatever larger knife I carry for the day, I always have an Alox Cadet with me, so I loan people that after vetting them for their intent.

I'll normally loan out my mini-multitool or CS to any non-knife person asking for a cutting tool.

While I have confidence in any knife I am carrying that It wont get damaged that easily. I would rather not have to work out blade chips from somebody else being careless. At the end of the day I am the one doing the touch up or reprofile lol.

Nobody uses my knives but me. If someone asks for my knife, I ask them why, and if the use is acceptable usage, I do it for them. Even handing my knife to someone just to let them look at it makes me nervous.

I will loan any of the knives I carry to someone in need. But if they break it their paying for it. One way or the other.

+1Dshiflet.

What's next, my handgun - I don't think so.

Being an enabler is NOT a noble calling. Consequences will change behavior....eventually.

No knife - sacrilege, I say.

Loner handgun? Maybe... in a Walking Dead scenario ;)

I don't worry much about my Striders. Pretty much human proof. Not sure what they could do to muck one up and there is the Strider Warranty.

Whoa that is till waaaaay more than what I would "loan" someone. I'd maybe do a Benchmade because if they happen to ruin the edge, I can send it to them so they can sharpen it.
For the woods, I always lend out my Mora. Nobody has every cried over a lost or broken $14 blade

I didn't mean borrow as in overnight.
