Last year, my father-in-law asked Bill to make him a "big belly" blade for field dressing deer. Bill made one awesome looking blade and my father-in-law used it on several deer last year (including my son's first deer kill).

Anyway, he recently asked if Bill could give it a quick touch up. Not only did Bill rock it out with the "convicious" convex, he also added a swedge and put a friggin' wicked sharp edge on it as well.... OHH YEAHHH!

I'm truly hoping my father-in-law hates the new custom swedge, because I will buy it from him in a heartbeat...:D

Just wanted to share a pic of the killer work Bill did on this blade. I've got a feeling this won't be the last sharpened swedge that comes out of the Backwoods shop....;)

Hmmn, "sharpened swedges", "tanto points" coming out of the BA Custom Shop lately . . . . Makes you want to grab a seat & some popcorn and stick around to see what's coming next . . . . :)
R/W, what type of wood is on the handle? Very sharp looking and I like the grain pattern (sorry, no pun intended) . . .
BA. good looking work once again, congrats to you both.
Be safe.

Sweet looking deer hunting blade!!! The swedge is for those tactical deer ops!

Mike, that is hilarious...:D My father-in-law kept emphasising that he wanted the tip to be as sharp as could be for penetrating deer skin, so Bill kicked it up 3 notches with the sharpened swedge.

Marc I think that there looks like the ultimate deer hunting knife. One of these days I would like to have Bill make me one just like that minus the swedge.I had a swedge on my KaBar in the Corps and they are great for knife fighting for the back cut. But I would bet you could use that one's swedge to make your initial incision and open the body cavity with out risking hitting the intestines. I do like the big belly hunter and would love to have it with me on my hunting trips!
