backyard bushcraft.

it's cold, raining and i'm nursing a mild cold so no boozing tonight...got bored so i decided to do a little backyard bushcraft. memories from previous trips comes rushing back - it's the good kind of flashback!

scraped up a piece of birch bark and off it went. gotta love birch. i need to scout my neighborhood for these trees. i wonder if it's considered trespassing if i harvest a few pieces from neighbors' yards

We have no birch here. Some years ago a friend made me a special firebow from a bison rib and put several spindles and hearth boards with the bow and string in a fringed leather case. He included a small supply of birch bark, but that is nearly gone even with my being very conservative in it's use. I need to find a forum member who has good access and grovel for some more. And a piece of chaga, true tender fungus.
