If this is in the wrong spot I'm sorry. :o

Just some fire practice fun and campfire for this wonderful Saturday night.

Used my new Swamprat Swamp Warden for the first time. Just received it in a trade an wanted to test it. It worked well.

Here shows my broken up cotton ball and Light My Fire fire steel. No vasaline on cotton ball just plain ole cotton ball.

One strike on the steel and we had flames

Don't worry that is untreated lumber. An old hardware store gave away many of those wooden flat crates but they were all dry rotted so they make great fire wood.

My seat and campfire must items. LOL

Showing everything together. That is my dog Sugar snooping around as normal.

Fire is really blazing now. Kept it going for a couple hours but now I'm in the house to enjoy a little inside R&R.

Hope you enjoyed. Ash

Backyard firepits are a superb investment. People don't think of it, but you can experiment with pretty much every fire type there is, safely try out no shortage of fire starting techniques, and really experiment with alternative ideas. Unlike other fire starting experiences, like Ash said, when you're done you can pop the cover over it and go back in the house. Things tend not to burn out of control.

One difference if YOU have a firepit: you can watch your neighbors spend an hour trying to get theirs to light with gasoline and scrambling to keep it lit. YOU can get a fire going in minutes that's warm, healthy, glowing, and ongoing. When you have a good knowledge of firecraft, a backyard firepit becomes a work of art... and envy!

Best to practice fire at home so you know you can master it. I have often times watched other people fail at fire with a lighter and newspaper and all kinds of easily lit items.

Love our pit...thanks for sharing yours! Have to say yours looks a model or two up.

A pity that someone stole your good beer and replaced it with beer-flavored water!
