Bad Day!

So yesterday I was having a bad day but it was ok because I knew waiting for me at home was my new Buck Vantage Avid that I planed on making my New EDC. I was super excited about this knife as I have been looking at the Vantage line for a good long while. So I get home hug my son say hello to the wife and cut open the package containing my new Buck Omni Hunter?!?¿?!? While it's a cool knife it's not what I wanted and I have no real use for it so now I'm dealing with the vendor and waiting for it to ship back and finally get my new knife. This just kind of ruined my whole day anyone else ever felt this kind of disappointment?

Never had a wrong knife delivered to me. That's a real bummer. Is the retailer covering shipping?

Yea they are covering the shipping I'm waiting for the prepaid label to get emailed. Not putting the vendor down as he is working to fix it just bummed out about not having the knife I was so excited about. Couldn't help but wander if anyone else has experienced this kind of disappointment over a knife and figured I would share my story as it is somewhat funny when you think about it.

It happens. I had a knife show up with serrations when I asked for plain edge. Same as you, shipped back and got the right one.

If it makes you feel any better, I've been all excited about taking delivery on a new folder and once I got it in hand - realized that I didn't want it at all. :(

Impulse purchases that turned to real disappointments have happened a few times over the years, but that's part of the game - plus not having a shop except Wal Mart to check them out in doesn't help.

Just think how sweet it'll be in a week or so when you're holding your new edc!! :D

I've had that happen recently. Was no problem to return. I have also had wrong knife in right box sent.

Tom

It does spoil the experience when something like that occurs.
It does happen. Probably more often the item not being up to par rather than being the wrong knife totally.
I've reached the point where I try and not think about the order until I have it in hand and then get happy if it meets expectations.

Sometimes things work out for the best.
I recently ordered a couple of AG Russell Curved Regular Jacks, two different blade shapes, both in amber jig bone.
Order shows up and one of the knives is not what I ordered. (Unusual thing to happen from AG). They sent the pattern I ordered, but in white smooth bone, not the amber jig bone.
Initially I'm a bit annoyed, but then I handle and look at the smooth bone and decided I actually liked it better. :D

You came home to your wife and son, hugged them, and then your whole day was ruined because someone messed up your knife order?

"I've got a loving family, but that's far outweighed by this minor clerical error!"

Send it back and they will send you the right one...your life ain't that horrible.

Where the h*ll did you read that?

Nowhere. It's known as using exaggeration to make a point. While getting the wrong knife does suck a bit....there are far worse things that can happen. Especially after having hugged your son. It seems to me it would take much more to ruin my whole day.

But, like I said...it does suck a bit.

The nature of your post sounded like trolling the OP, especially after you doctored his comments and wrap them in quotation marks. Not cool at all!

You are obviously having a far worse day then I was yesterday. Sorry I offended you but to clarify it was the wife and child who made my day bearable the wrong knife was the final straw or adding insult to injury. I did not mean to imply that it ruined my whole day and defiantly not that a knife was higher on my priority list. I would gladly give my life for my wife and son next to that a knife is nothing.*

It's fun to hear some of the other stories in here keep them coming. The best part is I got to check out a new knife for free and soon will have the excitement of opening my new knife all over again.*

Well I am having a bad day at work in general so you arn't alone on the bad day part. So far no knife mistakes though.

I'm not offended at all. When you posted "This just kind of ruined my whole day..." it seemed a bit much, especially after hearing about your family.

Glad to hear I read you incorrectly.

No problem after re-reading my first post I figured your *sardonic comment was directed at that particular line. I only mentioned my family as that was by far the highlight of my day. I also assume you missed my second post?*

Hacked, sorry to hear of that mixup with your knife delivery. I hope the vendor takes care of you quickly.

I had an instance where I was tracking the shipping on a new Endura. Tracking showed it was going to be delivered by Friday. Friday comes and no package so I figured it would be delivered on Monday. Saturday I get an email that it was rejected by the recipient (which would have been me) and had already been sent back and that a full refund is in process. I have no idea how that happened. I was having it shipped to the office and I received several other packages that day from USPS. It was frustrating to say the least. The refund did process within a couple of business days and I have yet to reorder the knife.

Well, if you got the wrong knife, your dog ran away, the car broke down, and you found your wife with the mail man...there's a ruined day!
