How many of you had days that no matter what you touch you screw it up ? Do you try to motor on through it or do you stop and walk away. Not me after several mistakes I spilled a bottle of black dye all over a finished sheath and my work bench. Lesson learned !! Walk away

Yep sometimes a guys got to saddle up and ride away.

Seriously, sometimes it is better to quit fighting it.

I'm not a knifemaker, but we all have those days. If I'm tired or my head is not in the game, I will walk away and come back fresh later. It's easier than trying to fix domething I've screwed up.

I usually prefer to plough through but I take a 5 second 'focus time' to put my head back in the game. If I still fail at the end of the day I look back and make a plan to fix things the next day. Cigar break also helps :)

I've done the "spill dye all over the friggin place!" and yes its best to walk away for a while. Only after the clean up though, that stuff does not clean up well after it dries! :p My wood tool chest still has brown dye spots all over it. :o

Sometimes it is nice just to saddle up and ride away. Until you screw that up too by forgetting to tighten your cinch before getting on. Well, we all have those days. You know those days were no matter what we do it comes out looking like the rear end of a horse, or what comes out of it. Sometimes a 15 minute nap takes care of things. Or pushing thru it knowing I'll mess it up to the point that I now have an excuse to get something new only to realize the first one " never really was broken" until I've already bought a second....;)

When things are not working, I shift gears and move onto something else, failing that a glass of Scotch will fit the bill.

Anytime I do something creative, whether it be leatherwork, wood carving or freelance writing, I will pull the plug for at least a couple of hours. I try to always remember to be rested, not hungry and not angry any time I start working. Fastest way for me to pooch something is by not having taken care of myself prior to work.
