Bad economy?

Is it the bad economy that makes the sales and trading section so slow?
Of course, I normally don't frequent these sections, so I may be all wet.
I've put a "trade" item up recently, and have noticed, not only my item but others seem to move slowly or not at all.

What do you think?

I think you are trying to trade a modified knife for a specific knife. So you need to find someone that likes the mods you did and wants the knife. Then you have to hope that person has a small insingo in their collection that they want to let go.

That's a really really really really small subsection of people.

I see it the same way Scurvy did. At any time, sales and trades for common low-end gear go pretty fast. Once the price goes up or the style is more radical, you have to be patient and understand, the right buyer will show up.

What Scurvy092 said, nails it. I would think if you're using "bad economy" as a sign of sales and trade movement, you would see the market flooded with knives for sale.

I agree with the above. I do like the way your handles look though.

Thank you for your thoughts. I intend to be patient. I do have an inquiry(for future consideration).

Trading has nothing to do with the economy.

I very seldom look in the trade section, but this thread did cause me to look at yours. Maybe you'll now get some looks, lol.

Many more will see it if you list it in the far sale section. If me I would sell and then buy the other.
Good luck.

I don't look at the trade area much either. I got tired of being burned by people who either (rarely) intentionally misrepresented the condition or (most of the time) weren't knowledgeable enough to accurately assess and describe the condition.

I want people to receive the knife in better than described condition so I am very specific and nitpicky. If people can't extend that same courtesy, there's no point. A lot of the time you wind up dealing with a serial trader who just wanted to check out knives.

The last trade I did was for a knife I bought new and put up for trade with an accurate condition description. The person traded me a knife that was described as lnib. What I got was a well used knife that had been resharpened. By the time I contacted the trader, he had already traded my knife away. I asked how he could call it lnib and he told me 'well that's how the previoslus owner described it.'

I have to agree with the excellent suggestion of selling yours, then buying the one you want. I found my experience in the trade section mostly a waste. You, at least are specific in what you want, and I think the passage of time may bring success. The trades I completely scoff at are the ones that are vague about what they want. "Shoot me a PM and tell me what you've got." Please.

I have had several successful transactions in both the "for sale" and "trade" sections. I am very particular about who I will trade with and what the trade terms and conditions are, but I find that if you are very specific and thorough it makes trades and sales go smoothly.

I agree with Mr. Scurvy and Mr. Ken on listing it in the "sale" forum for a reasonable price and use the proceeds toward the purchase of an Insingo. You can also include in your listing that you are willing to trade for an Insingo as well. Usually, I will put "FSOT" (For Sale or Trade) in the subject line to grab peoples attention that it is also a trade item.

Plus uno

I do not look at trade section. Currency was invented to make "trading" happen more universal. I'd recommend looking into selling/buying. It simply works more simply;)

I too have had good luck with trades... early on I was able to trade Randall knives for some CRK stuff when I first got into it,,,

I've made two trades, and both went just fine. I guess I was just lucky twice, and they were both fortunate to trade with me. There are some really good people on this forum.

Then I see a newby come in recently, with a vague desire and no one will touch him! Caution wins the day...

I just completed my second trade in the past week with the same member, and both went great! It is luck of the draw however, you can get fooled very easily in the trade section if you are not careful. As mentioned, if you want something specific then just sell.
By the way......the economy is actually quite good right now!
