BAD edge

Since my last thread, I've ordered a DMT Aligner in order to get a more consistent edge on my blades. I also picked up a BAD and am looking forward to carrying it around as an EDC.

When the DMT arrives, I was thinking about bringing the edge angle down a little bit to take advantage of its slicing capabilities. Is that advisable, given that I won't be using it for much besides normal EDC tasks?

The BAD is already a thin knife with a thin edge. It's basically a slicer, so if you want it to slice better I don't see the wrong in bringing the edge angle down a bit. Just be prepared to touch it up more often.

Sharpen it for your intended use but do remember what your intended use is once you have sharpened it.:)

The BAD will make a great EDC and slicer. I had one for a while, which I traded because I needed a mid sized knife, and had two smaller edc pieces of Infi. It would have been a keeper and another would have gone, if it had a different handle color (the red/black was not working for me, it looked more like purple/black). Great knife though.

I would love to pick another up in a different handle color.

Here is the great thing about the bad, is the higher hardness should support a thinner edge better. One thing about infi, is it is more malleable than you would expect for steel in the hardness range it is in. Meaning if you take it too thin, you will tend to start seeing edge rolling.

If you are not talking crazy thin edges, you should have no issues.

Will do!

Assuming it's in the 20 deg per side range, I wont take it down but a couple of more degrees. I had heard that the BAD was a bit harder than other Busses so I figure it would benefit from a thinner edge as long as I don't go cutting any bricks or anything :D
