Bad idea, or just fine? Knife inspection

I plan to order a Sage 2 online. Maybe at a well-known auction site because of the price and is the same dealer than another well known Internet market place. I want to send it to Maprik to have the titanium anodized.

Do you think it's a bad idea to have it sent straight to Maprik, to save on additional shipping? Or do you guys think it's important to receive the knife first to be able to inspect it, before shipping it off to get customized?

All thoughts and suggestions are appreciated! Thanks.

Shipping is around $5. I'd certainly inspect it first. What if you send it to him with a factory defect, get it anodized, and sent to you where you can finally find it? It's worth the extra ~$10 in my eyes to make sure it's right.

I would get it shipped to myself first. You can ship it Priority Express for a little over $5.

What others have said. Plus, since many sellers on that site use PayPal, which frowns on shipping to anything other than your confirmed address, it might not even be possible to have it drop shipped. It also puts the person doing work for you in a potentially bad position if he never receives the knife.
