So I am in the kitchen opening a package with me trusty large Insingo. The knife slipped while cutting the plastic and I nicked the counter top with the point of the blade. I immediately felt the blade and sure enough the point of the blade was damaged. It was not that bad but did require a touch up with my Wicked Edge. Even after the touch up the point is not as sharp as it was before. You cannot tell by looking at the point without magnification (that's why I skipped a picture) but I know it's damaged not the less. I use my knives and stuff like this happens. Even so I am a little bummed tonight.

not fun! The very tip of a knife is something I am not good at fixing evenly, I have done this before, and end up with an uneven tip that drives me bonkers! Lucky for you your damage is not too visible. Good thing you actually use your knives:thumbup:

Once I was staining the back porch. There was some rough edges on the wood railings and such I was using my knife to slightly round. I was carrying a new xm18 at the time........well the knife slipped and the blade slipped right over a nail, nicking the blade. I sharpened it out rather easily with the ultra fine rods on my sharpmaker, but like you said, you know its there......I have scuffed up and nicked CRK blades too over the years as thats what I carry 99.99999999% of the time, but that xm18 always stands out.....lol.

Better than leaving the poor thing locked away.. use 'em, enjoy 'em.. never look back.
I've boogered up more sebbies than I care to think about. :D

That sucks man, but at least you were using it, that is one thing that I have become better at in the recent months. I never though I would buy and use a knife over a $100 6 months ago, but I have come a long way to actually buying and using higher quality knives. Something about a Sebenza and a decent suit. I say decent, but probably low quality suit since I blew the money on knives but I find that finding a knife to match every outfit is a good excuse to buy more knives.

It sucks, but you get over it. A year from now, you'll be relishing all the nasty stuff you've done to it since then. Every scratch adds character. That said, I do have two of them that I keep locked away and I'd be bummed if I screwed them up.

I think I'm on about my 4th or 5th point resharpen at least. :p The worst one yet was a point first trip to a tiled floor. :grumpy:

Same here. I'm not even sure I want to post a pic of the XM-18 that I keep in my pocket here. :o

This unpleasant experience was only possible, because you made the enjoyable experience on using a superb tool.
So I feel with you (this sucks!) and I am happy for you, that you enjoy the Sebenza.

This happened to my Large Micarta 21 (non insingo). The point is gone, but I still use it.

Im sure chris reeve could fix it or even replace the blade?

if you guys were in california id fix it free of charge. Its a hobby of mine.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Glad others us their knives like I do. No safe queens for me.
