So hey everyone, this is my first post but I wanted to share this little story.

Friday, I meet with a scout sniper to pick up a swamprat ratmandu. He was selling it because he got issued a strider HT-S spearpoint fixed blade 8541. ( snipers get all the good stuff, we only ever get benchmades) well I got this knife brand new from him for 80$. Awesome deal I thought. Well I immediately went home and started sharpening it. I wouldn't have trusted it to cut butter at first. Oh yeah my wife was pretty pissed too haha but hey I couldn't pass that deal up. Well on with my story, I put a pretty decent working edge on it and left it for the weekend in my car. Locked up... Yous can only guess why. Well when the storm that is my wife subsided I brought it back out tonight to sharpen it some more. I got into my ' zone' as like to call it and everything.is going great until slip. And there goes the top part of my knuckle. Awesome? Maybe. My wife was pissed because I was doing this at midnight and had to wake her up to hold the towel on my finger while I taped it. What's more awesome ? I finished sharpening my knife : D. Ha

On a side note I found someone on base again selling a strider tonight for cheap unused. Damn my luck ! Its like everytime I decide to not buy a knife for a while to keep the wife happy something like that happens. Someone is playing a sick joke on me.

Ha. Keep the wife happy.

I have had several trips to the ER for stitches, and a severed nerve once.

Sharpening knives at 4 AM will get me yelled at every time.

Great score on the Swamprat. I would rather have it than any Strider (though I would take a great deal on a Strider and sell it at a profit to buy other knives).

Haha yeah that's what I usually do. Mainly because people get issued them and don't know there real worth so sell them cheaper than dirt or they are EASing and just sell them to make a quick buck.

Sharpening knives is so relaxing except to everyone else. I am working out the blunt edge on a new machete and the irritation level goes up. I was asked didn't you already sharpen that? I said I was sharpening it and am still sharpening it until it is done. Once I get it sharp then I will go make it dull and repeat the cycle. Works for me but the blade on stone sound is not music to everyone. Agreed though about the late night accident rate going up. I have lost count of stitches and have slight nerve damage to my middle left finger but all were done in actual work and not at the stone.

I think you'll be more than pleased with the RMD. I'm with the other poster. I'd rather have it then any strider.

Yeah I'm loving the rmd. id like to buy the strider too even though I'm not a huge fan of strider but have always wanted to beat on one. I think that for the right price anything is worth buying, the best price is free though ;)
