Bad news for my emerson?

As long as it locks up, you're fine. You still have some use left. If you get to 100%, maybe send it out for a tune up.

Should the lock start slipping, or you experience any blade play, Emerson will look after you.

Yeah, my 13 was all the way over, still locked up perfect, but I will be in the field for a month in January and didn't want it going broke there. So I sent it in and Emerson had it on it's way back to me with a new liner 4 working days after they got it!

Bad ass customer service!

mine was at 75% for like a week. then it decided to move all the way over.

Sent it in and now it locks up like a vault.

My CQC-10 was at 75% for the last 6 months and is currently still there. I open it several times a day. That being said, I recently sent it in for a frame lock conversion since I'm not a big fan of liner locks.

I thought Ernie said in Lou's thread that his knives don't have any lock issues, he doesn't get returns, and those who said he did were liars. (?)

Oh......Nevermind.....

Mr. Emerson was talking about defective knives, not knives worn out over time. His company will gladly fix either/or, but his thread was intended for those saying the fresh out of the box Emersons weren't up to par.

Anyhoo, I've heard nothing but quick turnaround times for those who do send their knives in for repair, sharpening, routine maintenance :)

I have a 04 cqc-8 and a 2000 commander that I sent in to Emerson to get the locks serviced after 6 and 10 years. Emerson completly replaced the handles and liners on the 8 and put in a thick lock bar, and the Commander now is as solid as any knife I have ever owned, and they put a razor edge on both of them. My experiance with Emerson CS was top notch and the turn around time was less than 2 weeks.

How much is it to get a frame lock conversion? Do you just ask for it?

- I should have been more specific, the frame lock conversion is not through Emerson. There are several knifemakers like Reese Weiland and other "pimpers" who can do a titanium frame lock conversion for $130 and up.

It definitely will. Besides, the conversion costs almost as much as the knife itself.

Haha, so in retrospect, was it worth it?

But of course, it does raise the value of the knife too, so the benefits are there in case you want to let go of the knife.

I wonder about this cause I was never fond of liner locks (had disappointing experiences with a couple).

My knives haven't been converted yet, but from pictures of other work that Nath has done, I'm sure I'll be happy. We'll see in a few weeks.

Here are a few samples of his work.
