bad pocket clip on D-2 extremes

has anyone else had this problem. I received my first D-2 extreme, and the pocket clip didn't touch the knife, considering the price, I sent it back to KA-bar with a letter, they sent me a new D-2 in the mail, with the same problem. When I called customer service, Gina informed me, it must be me not understanding the function of the knife. When I asked her how one was supposed to secure the knife to ones pocket with a clip that didn't come within an eighth of an inch of the knife handle, she said, and I quote here.." I don't really know all that much about knives". Should I just bite the bullett, and take the clip off myself and attempt to bend it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

same thing happened to me with my 710, but I don't have the tiny bit to unscrew the clip screws. But if I did, I would just bend it in a little. Clips are usually pretty tough, since they can take a severe yank if they get caught on something like a seat belt.

The same problem I had with mine about year ago. Screw your clip out, bend it somewhat tighter and screw it back to knife. This requires not more than 5 minutes.

You guys are missing the most fun part of the message - when customer service in a company like Ka-Bar will say something like "I don’t know that much about knives..." then why the he*ll is this person there anyway???? And what kind of customer service is this?

Arghhhhhh

Exactly my point<no pun>:-) It makes me wonder how this could happen with two knives and customer service be so clueless not to mention the high end price, I will keep and attempt to fix this one, but doubt I will be offering this model to my customers. Thanks for the reply and the welcome. I look foward to learning and sharing in the forums.

Just picked up one at the Chicago show. Same problem with the clip. I took it off and put it in a vice between some hardwood an just bent it tighter. These seem to be precision made pieces, however, the thumb stud will almost gouge a hole in your thumb when you try to open it. I really bought this just to try D-2 steel.

Thanks Ed, at least now I know this was not just an isolated ''my bad luck times two'!!
I also bought it to check out the D-2 steel,
but have decided to put it in the display case for sale.
