Bad Rep! Woohoo!

Does anyone else (who isn't a troll) have a little red reputation box? I've received some negatives from threads that were fairly heated and people just disagreed with my opinion, which is fine, but I noticed I got 2 negative comments on my rep from my last thread. It is about my dull BM 705 I received, sharpening it, etc... That makes no sense at all to me, but it does tell me the whole reputation thing is silly. Now don't get me wrong. I'm certainly not upset about this, I'm just interested if anyone out there takes any stock at all in the whole reputation thing, or if everyone thinks it's as meaningless as it appears to be.

On a side note, I wonder if I can give myself bad reputation "points" or whatever...hmm...
 
That's interesting. I think people should have to show their name and maybe a reason for their good or bad comments, but then that's just my opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions... Regardless, I still don't place much faith in the system as an accurate representation of anything.

Well, I guess I'll be the first to say this to both of you(KOJ11 & gay sidekick Lone Terd)
I DON'T LIKE THE GARBAGE THAT COMES OUT OF YOUR PIE-HOLES! Most of the things you two post are deliberatly meant to stir the crap-pot. In short you two ARE TROLLS!. Can't make it any plainer than that, so heres my name and my reason. 'nuf said.

First of all, if you think I really care if you agree with any opinions of mine on any issue, you're only fooling yourself. Second, I think you've made it very clear by your homophobic response who is and who is not a troll here. Your unprovoked personal attack is out of line, and has been reported.
 
m1marty, please try to remember when you're in the Whine & Cheese forum and when you're not. Right now you're not.

I'll just add to what I've said in the other threads on the reputation feature: koj11's rating is based on his posts having been rated 6 times. I doubt many people are going to take the reputation feature very seriously unless a lot more people start using it ... which I suppose is a feedback loop that just hasn't gotten going here at Bladeforums. If everybody rated everybody else's posts maybe that would add up to ratings worth taking seriously, but are enough people going to bother?

I hope it's clear I am not impressed with the feature -- not yet, anyway. Neither have I seen anything I consider evidence it's being abused. All we can do is wait and see if it ever amounts to anything....

Understood Cougar. ;) I should have toned it down a little. I was only trying to explain my take on why these two got bad rep. points. I will try to be a little nicer when not in W&C. Guess I don't have much tact. :(

If you get someone pissed off at you it won't matter what you post. If that person sees a post of yours he/she is going to give you bad rep points even if you didn't post anything objectionable. Personally, I wish you could still turn it off like you could when the feature first appeared. Normally I would just ignore it, but when you go to your User CP it is right there on the page that opens up. That makes it really hard to ignore.
 
P.S. If somebody takes a dislike to a member and searches out all his posts to give him bad ratings we would consider that abusing the feature.

You cannot repeatedly give some one negative feedback by doing a search and then giving neg feedback on every post. You can only give neg feedback once to a person then after you have spread more love around can you vote for that person again..so when you get a red badge its because of multiple peers that think your a phucktard.

edited to add I read Kojs post about BM..I thought it was fine..I too hate knives that are dull..His two neg points for that were unwarranted INMHO..but thats life I guess..
