Hi guys,
I just wanted to give a little warning. I recently bought some light weight rope at Menards, a local large hardware store like Lowes or Home depot.
It is 3/16 x 150 ft multifilament polyporpylene braided rope.
I just opened up the blue color role, they have red, green, and a mix of black. It is horrible. Every twelve inches or so it is frayed, split, or cut. About thirty feet out I noticed it was tied in two pieces!
Now it is on sale so its not expensive but I am really disappointed.
I bought it to brush up on my knot skills and to teach my nephew and niece some rope work so I can get by.
But,, if you are getting it for camping or lashing and didnt check you could be in for a big surprise.
It is made by Great lakes Tech LLC. out of Elgin Il.
I will post pics later for you after I open the other colors to see if they are as bad as this one is.
Ok, the rest of the colors are ok. Its just the blue one that all three rolls I got were bad.
Here are some examples of the damage
Here is a group shot of both the 3/16 and the 3/8
And a close up of the label and makers name
So I guess this is just a heads up, if you are going to use it for anything more than playing around check it before you leave the store. Hope it helps.
