I finally got my package today!!!! I "only" had to pay 100$ to get the knives so I was happy! UNTILL I opened the package...
I know some might say "to fail is human"... But DAMN!!! I've send at least 3 mails asking "please make a symetrical V edge on this SH-E"... I have called many times from Europe to USA to make it sure... And when I open the package, the edge is ASSYMETRIC, and there is not even a sheath with it!!! My best friend living in the same town just received his SH-E too WITH a sheath...
The worse is that I can't "just" send it back cause I will get trouble with customs again so no thanks... Disapointing when paying over 400$ for a knife... :grumpy:
My Buddy Mark ordered his SH with V edge to but got it with assymetric edge too...:grumpy:

Well, all I can tell you is that at least you got them the way they came from the factory, so no one had a chance to mess up the edge. I suggest you take them to a local knife maker to have the edge you want put on them. Or if you have a spyderco sharpmaker or edge pro, you can do it yourself and maintain it. Those sharpeneing systems make it easy to sharpen a knife.:)

cobalt...that's not the point... the point is that when from the factory you pay 400$ and order it with symetrical edge, and your buddy order the same with symetrical edge, they shouldn't come asymetrical. That's it! And when you pay 400$ for a knife you don't expect to spend another 75$ to make it symetrical plus another 60$ to buy a sheath when it was promised to be a part of the deal!.:grumpy:

Oli,
I can't speak on the edge issue but I'm sure the sheath issue can be easily remedied. Drop Holli an email and I'm sure she will take care of it the first of next week. Sometimes things slip by and I seriously doubt that either of these problems were intentional. BTW, you might be surprised at how well the asymmetric edge stands up to abuse. If it weren't appropriate for the knife Busse wouldn't have used it in the first place.

These issues can usually be handled by a simple email or phone call.

Can't argue with you there if that was your deal. Sit tight, you'll probably be recompensed well in one way or another if it was the factory that you got them from. If the deal was with another forumite, then ask them to give you what you asked for and keep us posted.:)

Did you contact the shop before posting here?

While I understand the frustrations you now have, pure and simple, people can make mistakes.

We never hear about all the right shipments, just the ones where something goes wrong.

Unfortunately, in your case, the international cuatoms factor complicates easy and simple resolution.

Please address these issues with the shop. If they are not resolved there, then posts with a frustrated tone would be understood.

Mike

Mike,
yes Mark contacted Holli when he got his package, and the answer was :"just send your knife back".
It seem you don't understand this post with frustrating tone, so I explain again: Mark and Me BOTH order EACH a SH-e with snakee skin handle (and all in all for about 2000$ knives within a week).
We BOTH send severals mails and we even BOTH called the shop to say how important it was to get a V edge on both SH-e.
We BOTH got it with assymetrical edge. And yes Mark contacted the shop. I have send a mail to Jerry and got the answer :" take a picture of the edge and send it to me..." . Do you know understand my frustration??? Cause when leaving in Denmark send the knives back is not an option...
You say: "we never hear about all the right shipments". Are you kiding? this forum is full of Thread with people telling how happy they're when they get their Busse!!! And I'm the first to post on the Forum EVERY time I got a pleasant experience, with both Busse and Swamp Rat. Eric can testify...
The point of this thread is not to be negative against Busse, but to explain that this can of "mistakes" is not cool at all when both Mark and me live in Denmark!

Beside, I would like to add, I know Jerry is a great guy and will do all what he can to help, but AGAIN, our situation in Denmark make it very hard for us to send the knives back, and THAT is frustrating!!!!

I agree with Eric, call the shop and see what happened with the sheath. I'm sure they will get you squared away.
I don't have any quick solutions to the grind situation either but it is a great performer and it is not hard to maintain.:)

I wasn't aware that this thread was here until just now. So, since this problem has become public fodder, I might as well keep EVERYONE informed of what is being done to remedy the situation. Our records show that the edges were ground symetric. Apparently there was a mistake made somewhere between the grinding room and the shipping department.

The sheath will be shipped as soon as we are resupplied. We ran out unexpectedly with a very large last minute mil. order of a model that fits in the same sheath. We expect to have our shipment in within the next 10 days.

Oli, Mark, and I are woking out a "fix" to the problem via email. It is nearly impossible for us to fix a problem when we can't get the knives back and are unable to see the edges, or work on them.

However, when there is a will, there is a way, and we will find a way.

Busse Combat has NEVER left a problem with a customer unresolved. NEVER.

Thanks,

Jerry

Oli,
This is indeed frustrating and even more so living where we do! Sending the knives back is not really a viable option from this screwed up country!
I'll try to explain why: Sending the knives to the US (or anywhere else outside the EU) will require an Export Permit from the polic and an Import Permit for getting the knives back into the country again.
Also the knives will be at least ten days in transit each way + the time they will spend in the "loving hands of customs" when they get back to Denmark. And it will cost $ 35,- to send the knives and probably the same in return shipping - and here comes the really insane part - Oli will get hit with both Tax (12,5%) and VAT (25%) of his own knives when returned! That means it may cost $ 100,- or more to get his own knives back!
Yes.....leaving the country would be an excellent idea and that's just what Oli unfortunately is doing soon......! (Sorry to see you leave, buddy!:( )

That said, I am sure Jerry will make it up to you! He offered me more help than I could ever have hoped for (and it was never his responsibility anyway) when I had problems getting my Assault Shakers into the country!

I hope this may have explained why we simply can't do the same things as you guys in the US can! A simple matter of sending a tool back to the maker and receiving it again is a major operation here. It's bureaucracy of the worst kind and an excellent example of the citizens of a country being essentially slaves of it's goverment! I don't have words (fitting in a public forum anyway!:D ) to describe how much I hate this nanny state!

This has been very stressfull to me, Jerry, How am I going to be compensated????

hahahahahahaha AGAIN AGAIN I want to point that this thread is not to arm Jerry or his compagny at all!
Jerry is for sure a great guy and since he got my first mail today he have really worked on HOW to solve it!
I'm still (as Mark) Busse fan and will of course still only trust my life in Busse (and Swamp Rat...mea culpa)
Actualy when writing this lines Jerry proposed me a way to resolv the problem! There is no problems...only solutions... Now the good part!
PICS COMING!!!!

Porcupine,

Thanks for the clarity of the situation. That really does sound messed up.

Cobalt,

I feel your pain and am willing to let you buy me a beer in order to relieve your pain and suffering!

I always give the gift of giving. In this case, it's me giving you the opportunity for you to give to me!

Yep, that's me. . . . I'm a giver!!!;)

Waow... Busse won't stop to surprise me! Jerry resolved all this situation in a... "magical" way :D

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!!
