BAD vs GW vs SAR 3

Well, had two BAD's traded and or sold them. Still keep my GW handy, and frankly I love this new SAR-3. At .160" on the blade spine I just think it is a perfect blade length and thickness for an EDC. My .02

Yup, I really like my SAR-3 as well. Bought the Armorall Leather sheath from the Company Store, and will be bending some kydex for it soon as well.

I have never handled a BAD but I have a GW and SAR3.

I have to say the SAR3 is a superb user, very handy size all round. I am a fan of the SAR series and also have the SAR4 as user.

I would not hesitate recommending the SAR3

Have to say GW has the most comfy handle for carrying(without sanding the Sar-3) and BAD has best user handle. The Sar-3 is a great EDC tho cause its light and has great usable blade/belly for its size.

I EDC a .140 GW because of its size, comfort, and natural grip - my BAD has the best user grip and longest, hardest blade, but because of its size and appearance it only seems to get used in the kitchen or around the campfire. I love the SAR series (SAR-8, SAR-4) but I'm having trouble getting used to the SAR-3's grip, even after I sanded down its sharp ridges and edges a bit - it just doesn't fit my hand naturally, my fingers just can't quite find their right place, although I really like the SAR-3's blade design, the NM treatment, the rounded tounge, its .16 thickness, the jimping, etc. Technically, the SAR-3 should be the superior EDC and I'm trying to retrain my hand, but it just seems to prefer the GW.

I have owned all three, and prefer the SAR3 by far. It just has the ergonomics and perfect size.

Does the increased hardness of the BAD cause any concerns with cutting/carving harder materials? Obviously it's not for prying, but I'm curious if edge chipping is an issue at 60-62 RC.

In the process of purchasing one right now. ;)

My vote is for the SAR 3, with some sanding it become pretty comfy and has a good blade design. I've fondled the BAD and liked it, but not more than the SAR 3. And as for the GW, I like the blade design, but the only ones I've held have been skeleton GW.

I didn't pick-up a SAR3 because the handle on the SAR4 and SAR8 just didn't feel right to me. But I met JAXX a little while back and he had his SAR3, and it definitely feels really good in the hand.

If I didn't have a cord wrapped Skelly Warden, that would be my choice...

I have not handled a SAR-3 yet but after reading this thread I may have to correct that. My choice is for the BAD. I have carried a GW and BAD for a while each and I preferred the BAD. The blade was very thin and useful for every day tasks and I liked the grip better. They are very close and many mornings I swapped up which knife I would take that day. Both would be an excellent choice, and from what I have read here so far, the SAR-3 would be a fine choice as well.
