I'm torn between the 2 : I've wanted a meaner for ages and you could call it a grail for me. On the other hand the BAD seems a really usefull size and the thin blade would make it an awesome slicer. To throw a spanner I have ss4 which is very similiar to the meaner.

I can only buy one - will it be the BAD or a Meaner ??

A BAD is a bit smaller so easier to carry. It is thinner at about .135" thick and all BADs most BADs have satin blades. For the right size with a sharp INFI blade that is nice and thin to make it a great EDC.

IMO Get the BAD for three reasons: great EDC grip, .125 thin satin blade, and INFI hardened to 60-62 - a bit more than other Busse knives.

IME:

BADs are the king of small Busse slicers, thinner and hardened even more than normal.

Meaners are more all-purpose, and more likely to endure hard-use/abuse.

Get the one that suits your intended tasks best.

The AD is a better EDC. The MS is a better bushcraft type knife.

Since you already have a SS4 and it is nearly a clone of the MS I would 100% pick the AD.

If you want a grail, shoot for a saber ground Leaner Meaner like one of these

Good luck finding one. They are definitely COOL and very hard to find.

BADs are easy to find and less expensive, so I guess it depends on whether you want a challenge or not.

If I had to choose one, it would be a Leaner.
