Hello, folks,

I'm firing up my shop after a ten year hiatus and am behind on latest tech, except seems things haven't changed that much.
I've used my Bader II to grind a whole lotta knives, but it was wandering bad before I quit. Always a problem with that particular grinder. Have ordered a new crown pulley after unhappy results with recrowning my own.
My question: does anybody have experience with both generations of grinder and does the "III" really track that much better?

Good to feel that hot steel in my hands again, and collect a few new scars!:)

Never worked with a BII but I do have a BIII. After talking about the machines with several old time makers it is my understanding that the BIIs' arm allowed the contact wheel or platen to tilt every so slightly. That is what they said caused the poor tracking.

All I can say for sure is that the BIII tracks perfectly.

I have both a BII and a BIII. No tracking problems with either machine. I think you have to make sure the spring on the arm for changing belts has to be really stiff. The BIII is definitely easier to change over to different attachments. On my BII I check all the allen screws and bolts every couple of weeks to make sure everything is tight and have experienced no problems.

Thanks, guys, for the input. That's always been the only beef I've had with my Bader.

Welcome fitzo!

Wow! Waukegan, IL.

Used to go up there from Chicago about 30 years ago to play on the lake. Been a long time since I've seen that town's name!
