I should be going on a survival week course and I need a very good knife that is suitable for carving wood etc. I've been looking at a badger attack but have a few questions.

1. Is it suitable for wood carving ( I don't mean fancy stuff, I'm talking about making cooking pot stands and stuff)

2. I've heard loads of people rave about INFI steel, but never heard what makes it so good. What excatly is so great about it?

3. I've also heard that Busse can take a very long time to ship orders, ( I'm not being nasty, it's just what I heard from my local knife dealer) What are the order times in your experience?

Hope you can help, cos I really want one.:D :D :D

Basically: very high lateral and edge toughness, great edge-holding, decent corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and high strength (great for resisting edge deformation). This stuff rocks

I believe the current wait time is 3-6 weeks (until the knife ships).

Enjoy your trip!! :D

You might want to add a few weeks for shipping. I think that the Swamp Rat orders are slowing down the shipping dept....

Just got my BA3 on 09/05/02. Here's my sad story: I got the email from Amy stating that it was ready to ship on 07/29/02. On 08/13, I had the honor to speak with Mr. Busse and learned that my order was misplaced. Mr. Busse stated that they would get it out today. On 08/29, I called and found out that it was still sitting in shipping. Cathy promised to have it sent out the next day. UPS had the wrong address and couldn't deliver on 09/03. Had to call and provide the correct street number.

I love my custom Badger, it would suit your needs perfectly.

If you are getting a stock BAIII, consider also bringing a Swiss army Knife (one with a wood saw would be best) and a simple mora #1 (from www.ragweedforge.com), they are dirt cheap, but will really help you with woodcraft.

ERIC_DRAVEN: I would be taking my SEBENZA aswell (ofcourse) and a folding saw and a fairly small axe.
Thanks for the responses its helped loads. :D
