Ok Badger fans get on in here. There are some Busse knives that had small design or construction differences which gave away it's steel type being either A2 or INFI. Now the Badger is one knife I don't recall anyone mentioning these visual "hints". Does anyone out there know if there are any?

Why am I asking this? Don't you worry your little self about it. It's nothing important or related to items posted on ebay I can assure you :D

Judging from the sheath and the spines, (they look blued to me)
I would say that it's A2.
If that were the buy it now price...it would be gone ;)

Oh hell yeah :) For that starting price I wouldn't care if it was A2 or INFI. I'd sell my blood to buy that one. Funny thing...my body keeps making more of it all the time :D

I'd also guess that one is A2. Mainly because it looks a lot like my 5/16" Badger which is A2

...how does a novice tell whether or now he's buying INFI or A2?

Our Randall collection is 50+, and I can usually identify a RMK by model #, and date of manufacture within a few years...but I'm nearly clueless on Busse's, other than the model's...

And, in my case, as I start collecting Busse's, I'm going to want INFI, and don't want to make many 'mistakes' along the way...god knows, we made plenty of those with the RMK's getting to where we are today...

So, the question remains, is there an easy way to tell, especially with the older model's?

Anyhelp here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Mel

Mel,
Good Question
All Battle Mistresses (BM's) were made of INFI
Steel Hearts are a little harder to tell but here's some great info by Andrew Lynch to help. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=198508&highlight=lineage

Any Busse with an Ergo handle is INFI.

Other than that it is best to try and determine the age of the knife, by looking at the handle fasteners, the sheath, type of knife coating and the micarta.

BTW, all Busses have been increasing in value lately, A2 or INFI, so if you find a good deal, buy it :D:D

As always, you've been most helpful!

Thanks again guys, keep the thoughts and pics coming!

Mel

(P.S. I think this Busse collecting is going to be fun...lol) :D
