The Badger Knife Show in Janesville, WI is coming up in 2 weeks. I went for the first time last year, which was about the same time I discovered BladeForums. Now, armed with the info from thousands of helpful BF postings, I am ready to return . . . to do some REAL damage to my wallet!

Anyone else coming? Any hot tips on makers to meet?

I am indeed going! All three days, this time!

Here's another invitation for ribs and beer at Damon's (across the parking lot from the show) on Saturday night.

Please drop me a note if you'll be coming to dinner so we can make sure that you've got a seat!

Hope to see you all there!

Guys, I think I'll be making it up there. The fella I'm driving with is a TKC-L member, so he'll be with the Damon's group on Saturday night. I plan on bringing a bunch of knives. I'll probably be wearing a Palmer College of Chiropractic sweatshirt and I will also have some cool stuff in tow. I was thnking of taking my last few sheaths with me to possibly pawn off or trade. Is this sort of behavior frowned upon? I am trying to get a rush job on one of Sean Perkin's new folders, too, so hopefully I'll have it by then to show off. I'm excited about the show, so keep your eyes peeled for a dude wearing a whole bunch of Kydex!

I think the show is March 24-26 or is it the 25-27? I know I will be there on Saturday, which is the 26th. Anyway, it is in Janesville, WI, which is a little south of Madison, I believe. I have not been there, but my ride partner and I will be leaving from Kewanee, IL (near the Quad Cities) and he said it takes only a couple hours. I don't have a map in front of me, but it should take 2-3 hours from Chicago, I would guess off the top of my head. These other guys will be able to give you better directions and all that. YOu can find contact info and a number to call for the organizer in the Shows section in any Blade magazine.

umpota -

To get there from Chicago, head north on 94/90. Take it west to "Rockford", and keep going until you're a few miles past the WI border. That's about it! Should take about 2 hours from Chicago proper. Bring change, 90 is a toll road.

The Holiday Inn is right off of 90. You can see it from the expressway, and there are signs leading up to it. Look for signs for the Holiday Inn Express Janesville. Sorry I can't give you the exact exit number. If nobody here gives it to you and you still need it, the phone for the HI is 608-756-3100.

Dinner time will be finalized this week, but it will definitely be shortly after the show closes for the day, with enough time in between the show closing and dinner to allow makers to shut down and clean up.

Look forward to seeing y'all! Glad you'll be making it, Chiro!

Hey, Hey!
Chiro is riding up with me and our dinner reservation is already in with Joe.
Brian, I gotta call Tim again. Still no Wegner/Boguzewski fixed blade for that sideXside we were planning.
I'll be bringing about a half dozen blades for show-and-tell and I hope to find something at the show that I didn't know I needed!

I don't know what to bring with me for knives. After meeting JW and seeing some of his show and tell pieces (two from Center Cross and one Larry Chew, i think), I was pretty humbled about my own collection of knives. I was thinking of bringing my Carnivore (REKAT) that I altered, and one or two of my Sean Perkins knives. Also maybe a neck knife. Either a RUnning Dog Little Camper or Allen Blade Chipmunk (knowing me, probably both). I don't want to bring too many knives, but I also wouldn't mind showing off one or two of my Neil Blackwood kit knives I finished. Any hints? My stuff is pretty...rustic...compared to a lot of the high-end custom stuff I've seen, but I wouldn't trade any of them for the world!

Bring too many knives? You funny!

In evaluating knives, I'd suggest you use the following criteria. If your knife passes these two simple tests, it will gladly be fondled, inspected, and otherwise loved...

1) Is it shiny?
2) Is it sharp?

I will be there Saturday and Sunday. I will be wandering around with ivory and damascus and maybe some hippo and of course knives to trade. How many forumites are going? This is my favorite of all the knife shows in my area. The show dates are the 24th-26th.

Umpota,

I am 35 miles north of you and highly suggest you go. I would suggest that you get a room for at least one night though if you do go since it is quite a haul. Just jump on 39 and head north. If I remember correctly it changes to I 90 in Wisconsin. The exit is 171 C. It's at the Holiday Inn Express Conference center and is easy to find. Janesville is pretty close to the IL border.

Regards,

Tom Carey

I am really going to try and get down there, I would really like to meet all of you.

Semi lurker Danbo will be there with wife in tow. That should keep him out of trouble. *G* So who all is going for sure?

Regards,

Tom Carey

Semi lurker? Man, dont make me slice you up with my Jerry Fisk Arkansas Camp bowie! Wait a minute. That would get blood on it and detract from the value. HAHAHA

I will be going and taking a few knives in tow to trade.

Hey Chiro will you be bringing a Kydex Sheath for a Greco Companion....Hint...Hint...

Depending on the dinner time I might have to skip it I have to be in a squad by midnight back in the city.

See you all there

Jim

Dinner is 6 or 6:30. I'm envisioning more of a "free-floating, come-and-go" thing more than an official dinner time, so feel free to stop in for as long as you can!

Danbo - You coming to say hello?
