Just drove back from the Badger Show, day one . . . thought I'd let everyone know how fun it was!
I found Danbo and Double Edge Dave and chatted with them. Danbo was like a kid at a candy store--he just picked up this enormous Kevin Cashen knife, beautiful ladder pattern damascus blade, crown stag handle (I'm sure he'll show us a pic). Got to see a Mnandi for the first time thanks to Dave.
There were a lot of well known makers there. Matthew Lerch had one of the most beautiful folders I've seen--complex yet tasteful damascus, filework, interframe with three successive layers of different color MOP, gold inlay, etc.
Kevin Cashen had a cutlass on his table that was enough to make you embark on a life of piracy--board 'em and fight 'em and hang every mother's son of them!
Bub Worrell had a damascus dagger, gemstones in the quillions and hilt, ivory handle, very sweet!
It took me forever to decide, but I finally picked up a Jeff Hall folder with stabilized maple scales and some very nice filework. Jeff had one of his large tactical folders on the table, and I see why everyone is excited--very solid work indeed.
I'll go back to tomorrow for more, hopefully run into more forumites for dinner.
