Biiiiig sigh! I do loves the SHBA, I surely do! Maybe someday....
You`re not alone. I remember back when we were making those all the time one of our customers was going through S.E.R.E training for the Army. He said they were`nt supposed to endorse any specific equipment, but more than half of the instructors were carrying SHBAs in thier gear.
For me it`s a toss up between the SHBA and the early SH2. They`re both so damned sweet to hold!

Badgers! My all time favorite!
I don't have the honor of being able to say I have one or have even handled one of the old school SHBA's, but my guess it that it would be pretty darn high on my Busse list.
I still would rather not have the snag choil. But, at least the Talon Hole looks right. The handle looks good and the blade looks great. I like the solid pins too. (not so crazy about the "collectible" slotted pins.)
I wish Jerry would do an "ASHBA-1" = Aniversary Straight Handled Badger Attack... without the choil... and satin. Smoothed and buffed Tiger hide and about $175.
