...Guys I must be spendin' way too much time doin' stuff around the house and other "non-essential" chores like that because I'm baffled by the bunches of presumably new 110 configurations I see lately. I see stuff like:

White Pearl
Black Basketweave
White Basketweave
Black Lava
Golden Ruby
Black Pearl
Bubble Gum
Purple Passion
Timber Rattler

...All of these are touted to be Buck made and warranteed for Life by Buck...Are all these being put out by Buck or has " deadwoodknives" and "digital_freaks" made mass purchases of these from Buck to their own specs?...Anyone have a clue here???:confused:

I have some and the ones I have are all after market handles...nice work and I won them on low bids, but NOT buck factory stuff....

...Ahhh...I see now...I never really thought Buck would start with the "Bubble-Gum" thing but I got a bit "cornfused" when I saw them offering the "Lifetime Warranty" and also the apparent references to the stock numbers similar to the way Buck marks their boxes. They mentioned B110BP for Black Pearl, B110BG for Bubble Gum, B110 BKL for Black Lava and so on and so on...

The popularity of the Buck 110 has everyone capable of replacing the scales on one doing so and offering them up on ebay. For us it means more choices. If you happen to hit on one that does it for you then great. I have a few older 110's that I've pondered sending off to Leroy to spiff up with some pretty scales. For now though they remain in my desk drawer. :o

I've wondered about their claim of a "lifetime warranty", because Joe has made it clear here that they will not warranty knives redone like that anymore.

I wonder if those sellers know that, or are just assuming they will????

Some of them are kinda nice, I thought the bright yellow or orange ones would make a good woods bumming knife!

...What I'm seeing is the fact that in my eyes so many factory "stock" Bucks are getting this so called "custom treatment" they are making my old authentic "wood n metal" 110's look better and better to me each day...LOL...The more they "customize" the fewer "real" Bucks are left...:p

as a collecter not a user the warrenty would never come up...
as a user ..well joe wont fix them ..
buck does not seem to have the resorces to go after every one that does a custom buck then resells them...
case did .. and painted pony had to pay for every thing he did to a case knife...
yes Triple R Knives can repair most any thing you send him ... he is timely also...
after all he made a LOT of the customs while he was there!
soooo yeaaaaa he would know ...

Just for my own curiosity, are " deadwoodknives" and "digital_freaks" known to folks here?

Do they do good work?

I have about six of those custom handle ones which I paid between $32 - $45 for each since I never over bid for them. They are mostly for collecting, and Joe H has stated clearly on this site they do not cover the warranty on them, however I have never sent any knife in for repairs so to me this is not an issue. I have about 50 Buck 110s and these handles make a nice difference and add to my collection. My 15 year old son thinks they are my only "cool" 110s.....

On a somewhat related note, I have seen some "110's" that have had not only the handles replaced, but also the blades replaced with blades made by someone other than Buck, and have no "Buck" tangstamp on them.

Is it legit for these to still be sold as "Buck 110s"???

I have a few Painted Pony. Michael Prater has a note in each of his packages that he will warranty his knives.

Buck needs to go after the others for saying that Buck will warranty them.

Thing is, Buck is missing out by not tapping into this market,,, maybe.

Maybe these pimped knives are just a fad that will pass, and those that collected them will get the bug and go looking for the old dots and no dots.

note to self....start polishing up all the old 110 and 112's.

well.. rummer on the buck under ground is that post falls had a min order of scaless knifes of 250 but is now no longer selling scale-less handle knives to any but dave yellowhorse and on some buck club info you can see that G.M. orders for him.

rummer also has that it has been brought to the attention of buck's Dave V - bucks VP concerning this black market in custom bucks..
these guys are buying from wally it looks like and reselling ... who knows...
while we here have knolage...
many new customers to buck dont know and if one breaks will be unhappy...
i my self once bid on such a knife and then emailed the seller and asked if it after market and if it was to please cancle my bid... and he did...
i dont even count my rubber bucky a real one.
