Bag of Essentials

I spend every week away from home and family working .
Being a knife nut I have always had a selection of knives and stuff in my work bag to satisfy my addiction .
Over time I've simplified the way I do things and now only pack my weekly needs into a small Spyderco soft carry case that one of my Spydercos came in .
In it are three knives ( for the last few months it's been all Delica's ) , T6 and T8 torx drivers to do any on the run adjustments and a spare Streamlight flashlight in case I lose my user one .
This may seem like overkill to many people but compared to what I used to pack each week this is minamalistic .

Does anyone else have an essential bag ?

I must add that I carry a SAK and a Leatherman Surge as well as one of the Delica's on me at all times when I'm working :)

Not overkill. If nothing else you have useful redundancy. I honestly would pack a few if I traveled that much just to play with in the hotel room. The fact they are all Delicas is good too because they are easier to replace if you have to.

I keep a Double Stuff in the console of my truck in case I need to touch a knife up on my lunch break. I think you need a Double Stuff in that case.

I carry two knives, two lighters and two flashlights at all times. I appreciate redundancy.

This is my essentials bag, a Maxpedition Fatty organizer. It rides in whatever bag I'm using. If I'm not using a bag, it stays at home or in the car. It's a bit more overkill than yours... I like to go very light on person, and usually only have a 3-4 inch Spyderco RFP, and an alox SAK LFP, maybe an AAA light in a coin pocket.

The most important items are the spare Spyderco, SAK, multitool, ID book, credit card, and a minimal first aid kit with some headache tablets. I've recently added the Knipex Cobra pliers, and they've been surprisingly useful a number of times, more so than the Leatherman, go figure...

I have an essentials setup, too, that rides in my shoulder bag, which I carry everywhere I go.

They give me comfort, and have saved the day more than once.
The setup (combination of the items I have on my person + on the bag) is the one below.

When I can't (for whatever reason) carry the bag, the keychain below is what goes in my pocekt clipped next to my folder on the right front pocket.

Sometimes it's good to be redundant,

sometimes redundancy pays back!
Nice post and thread, keep'em coming!

I just build up my own EDC bag(maxpedition). in it I have a essential first aid kit, a lighter, tylenols formula 1 with codeine, a trunight AA ti flash light with a spare battery, a Para2, a Stanley 4 bits driver, an Leatherman multitool and a mini pry bar. I might be forgetting something, I left it in my car lol.

I'd say it's not minimalist for a EDC carry :)
