Bags with too many pockets.

I take a lot of stuff with me at work - duct tape, knives, sharpeners, tools (screwdrivers, pliers, etc.), zip ties, food, etc. In short, I'm a mobile packrat.

My problem is that I'm tired of just tossing stuff into the bottom of my backpack. I want to find a bag (preferably some sort of satchel) that has an abundance of smaller pockets, so I can actually organize my stuff. Doesn't need to be "cheap", but I'm not itching to waste extra money either.

What would you fine people suggest?

If you want a 2 strap backpack the rush 12 is my edc lots of pockets some that zipper or drawstring . for a sling pack look at the gearslinger series by maxpedition

Never even heard of Maxpedition until now, but their gearslinger stuff looks to be what I'm searching for... I'm thinking Noatak + Janus extension should be perfect.

Thanks guys!

one thing about the maxpedition gearslinger bags it to not overpack them. after a while it does get heavy and digs into the one shoulder. It's great if you're constantly getting up or sitting down and for riding motorcycles. You can just spin it around to the front to get something without taking off the bag.

Good to know... Guess I won't try to take it hiking then. (But I've got hiking packs and daypacks already, so that's okay.)

Try this (second down on the page). It looks like it'll work as a backpack or hand-carry bag, and has plenty of organization.

Another idea, either instead of buying a new bag or to get better use of your older bags when warranted, is to look into the different sizes of Grid-it, by Cocoon:

I have a few for different purposes (a larger one for suitcases, smaller for a briefcase), and they can be really handy.

Those do look interesting... It looks like they just have tons of little straps all over the place, letting you use whichever ones you want.

Up to a point, meaning, some of the strap/areas are longer than others (hard to describe, but if you click through the "buy now" button you can see different sizes with ideas for configuring your gear with them). A wider or narrower area isn't always available exactly where I want it, but it's still one of the most flexible organizers I've seen. Plus, the straps of non-slip nubbins on them. The grid-its do add some weight, mostly due to their rigid backing (which includes a zippered compartment on at least some of the sizes), but the backing is largely responsible for keeping things safe.

I forget now where we got ours-- Amazon, maybe?-- but it wasn't through the official site, at official prices. Sometimes retail stores carry them, too, though I've only ever seen one or two items in one place.

I'm always up for a(nother) new bag, but like I said, I've found these helpful for organizing the bag(s) I already have.
