With the big honkin' crack on the HB and the spots on the bowie?

Best Regards,

That spot on the bowie looks like it might be a drop of water or something? (I hope) I'm not seeing it in the 2nd picture. The crack in the HB can likely be prevented from getting worse. No idea what that would do to the collector value. A Bagwell would have to pretty darn messed up before I would recommend a re-handle job, unless it's done by Bagwell himself. I'm pretty sure I know what that would do to the value.

Regardless, they're both great examples. I'm glad to see the recent surge in interest in Bagwell's work. One of the godfathers of the modern bowie.

The handle of the Helle's belle it has a fracture, but the stains are the dust of the leather sheaths, I have forgotten to clean the knives before the photos-
Thanks

i wonder why someone would pay good money for something only to let it deteriorate? i would contact Bill about fixing that handle if i were you Marsus.

Substantial crack. I wouldn't let anyone else attempt a fix except Bill.

Though I have heard it has something to do with indexing, I prefer for pins to be lined-up uniformly.

I think that the fracture is not a problem it is enough a small reparation with a good epoxy glue , according to me it is better to have the original handle-

Great knives just as they are Marsus. I think you were fortunate to be able to get them. I agree with you, I'd rather have the original handle with a crack, than a rehandle job, UNLESS bill did the work.

Is the brown spot near the edge on the bowie, the one of concern..?
It's a reflection of the frog button.

I love the Hell's Belle, but would definitely be contacting Bill about a rehandle.

No doubt...regardless of what the chorus says, broke knife, is broke knife.

I am very happy you recieved the knives. The crack is a bummer but they are great knives I know youwhere excited about getting them . Glad I could have been of assistance.

DOH! You're right, that's what I was looking at. Now I feel dumb. :o

I have to agree, don't let anyone but Mr. Bagwell work on that cracked handle. Keep copies of your/his correspondence if you contact him, if possible.
