Merry CHRISTmas !

No fruitcake this year ! Arrgh ! Did get Glenn Beck & Sarah Palin's latest books though.

For the unlearned, cloistered & sheltered , fruitcake is the founder of the G I hi-energy bar. One/fourth of the bar gives a near-adrenalin rush & is a great Southern tradition.

Rant over.

Hope all are celebrating the reason & enjoying love of friend & family !

I like that

Fruitcake evovled as a form of vegan pemmican so its roots are deeper than a GI foxhole. :D

What do you normally use - a proper rum or brandy soaked Collins Street Deluxe model or are you a more devout worshiper of the Trappist offerings from Holy Cross or - my favorite - the moist dense Gethsemani Farms Bourban soaked pecan masterpiece???

I miss the traditional sharing of the fruitcake when I lived in Fort Worth. :(

God bless you and a belated Merry Christmas to you and yours, Uncle Alan!

(Off to see what transpired on this other "fruitcake thread" and replenish my last tray of walnut bourbon fudge - also from Gethsemani Farms.)

I thought that there was only 1 fruitcake, and it just keeps getting passed from person to person. :D ;)

I looked at fruitcake as a kid, and said wtf. I tasted it as an adult, and actually liked it! I knew my childhood was gone forever at that moment.

If you had a nice German fruitcake you'd change your mind I'm sure. Let me just say that there's a ton of rum in German fruitcake, along with more raisins and less of that candied fruit crap they have in American fruitcakes.

When I was in high school the honor society sold "Manor Texas" fruitcakes as a fundraiser. Those were the best. I might have a piece now and then but the building bricks they sell in the grocery stores just don't cut it for me.

I think I need to google "Manor Texas" fruitcakes and see if they are still in business.

Oh my, they are still available!

:thumbup:I saw some yummy lookin fruitcakes at the grocery store when I took my aged mother to the store for supplies...( snowing to beat the band and I did not want her driving) anyway...I would suggest that U.A. treat himself to a fruitcake after all its the Holidays and You deserve it.:D
