Per recommendation from Ben at Bensbackwoods, I purchased the 19" Bahco rucksack axe. I really like the shape and weight of the head. It splits very well and performs all the fine tasks I need it to do. I didn't like the length and shape of the handle.
I put the axe on a 28" handle, final size is 26" long. I really really like the way the axe feels and works now. Feels light and lively in my hand.
I really like the Bahco head designs, I recommend them. Here are some pics. The handle isn't great, only 28" handle I could find out of six hardware stores here in Wichita, KS.
