BAIII Snake

I bought this beautiful BAIII with snakeskin some time ago from another board member, and for the life of me, I can't bring myself to use it. At the same time, I'm not really big on having things sit around and collect dust if I'm not going to use it. It's got a pristine blade with the asymmetrical edge and the original nylon sheath. I have a nice collection of knives I don't use, but they're in cases for display. I'm getting another one of those soon, but I don't think the BAIII is really for this.

I can't decide if I want to let another HOG have this or not, and if I do, what do you think a decent and fair price would be? Obviously there are some of you who are going to say since it's a discontinued and obsolete model you're going to generously offer to take it off my hands for something like $5.00 plus shipping, but when I say "fair" I mean fair for both of us.

I'm a Gold member, so if I do decide to sell it I can post it over in the "For Sale" area, so this is not an attempt to get around that. I'm just not sure I want to commit to putting it up for a bittersweet farewell yet.

It's always worth searching the X to see what they've gone for... One with black canvas micarta was just sold yesterday, IIRC.

Just saw a BAIII in black / black linen sell for just over 600 I think. It sold very quickly.

With snake slabs, you could probably get a fair amount more I'm guessing.

Too bad it's not satin / snake, otherwise I'd make an offer.

If you got it at a good price, you might consider passing it along at your cost. If you sell it in the open for a below market price, then someone might grab it and flip it for a profit. Instead, you could reach out to certain folks of your choosing and offer it to them with the understanding that they won't flip it.

btw, I already have two BA3, so this is not a disguised solicitation.

I just sold mine just like it for $500 about 10 days ago. Just got my money back, and wasn't looking for profit.

Just list it for what you paid, plus what it wil cost you to ship.

I'd say $700.00 would be the current market value. Even if the BAIII is re-released in someway, this combo that you have won't lose any value IMO.

I'd say this post has the same effect as if you did post it for sale here rather than the exchange. I am sure it has generated offers to you. Historically threads of this type are canned for circumventing the exchange, even if it is truly not the intention of the original poster. For that reason I think it is best and fair to all that think one come to an end. If people want to offer you ideas they can take it to email or pm. I am not making judgments on your original intent, only the unintended outcome.
