Well, there were a few 30~40 pound Bluefin caught on the boat on the second day. (Just not by me.) We chased them all over the Tanner Bank outside San Clemente Island. We saw them jumping and foaming here and there. But, Bluefin suffer from chronic lockjaw, which any SoCal fisherman can tell you. It's just as well for me, my game plan is so rusty, I couldn't have caught one if I did get a bite anyhow.

The first day of two, we loaded up on Dorado. That is one species I had not caught before. The most abundant species, however, was little, firecracker sized, Yellowtail. Probably my most favorite fish to catch, these models just need time to grow.

There were a few Yellowfin Tuna in the mix, of which I scored one, also small. And I saw a Skipjack Tuna come over the rail for someone. Some people turn their noses up at Skipjack, they must be crazy!

As always, fishing trips among strangers are filled with life lessons of the human variety. I learn something about myself and other people on every trip. I got another excursion planned in less than a couple weeks, a day-and-a-half trip, different boat. I expected the likely occurrence of being skunked, so it seemed only prudent to hedge my bet.

Final fish cleaning was handled easily by the BK15. Still nothing large enough for the BK5. Until then, there are more fish in the sea.
