I'm planning on being there for Sunday (9/30), I'll try to remember :)

Who is planning on being there Sunday? If they have little name tags, I'll put BFC under my name on mine. I'm looking for a couple of fixed blade users on the order of the stuff that Bob Dozier makes, but maybe a little more unique.

See ya there.

BAKCA is next weekend, not this weekend. You're going to be there.

It's not near any airports except Moffet Field, and I don't think you're going to be landing there.

What is your present altitude? :p :p :p

Tom, who let you up for air at BladeWest? Palo Alto is a little ways south of SFO, alright, but I think you'll enjoy your stay in the City.

Randy, I'll be there Saterday, I look forward to meeting you as well.

I couldn't get enough "punishment" at Blade West on Saturday, so after I put my wife back on the plane to San Jose on Sunday, I went ahead and made reservations on Southwest to fly up there on Friday after work...

"Wives and Knives", what could be better?

See you guys at BAKCA, and sorry Mayo, we're not done with you yet...lol *eg*

Nifrand, I found that RMK you were looking for. It's on ebay, and I'll email you the link. If you don't want it, let me know and I'll buy it.

Thanks, Randy. Didn't mean to offend anyone :) I just remembered from a history lesson a long time ago in a far away place that the US soldiers called the Japanese kamakazi planes Baka planes or idiot planes or something like that.

Fools do you not see that post was from last year?

You are right. I found the topic in a search for BAKCA and Tom's 1 post thread from last year popped up. It was my post that brought it back to the top. I'll still be there Sunday for any of you who haven't already grabbed everything up today!

Back at work from the show, had a just great time. Picked up my first TNT from Tom Mayo, a sweet little beauty with thumb studs and no extra holes or a clip, slick and simple. Tom stuff seemed to be moving pretty well, at least he said this weekend was better than last.

I also survived the Onion feeding frenzy, didn’t come out with a frame lock but got my grips around a mid-tech Boa while the kids up front dived in and started double fist grabbing the pieces. It was actually kind of an ugly moment, but I don’t know what Ken can do without setting up a “take a number” system of starting an Emerson style lottery. But I am one of the lucky few and am quite pleased with the Boa, smooth, fast and sexy, I see why the demand is so great and the secondary marker so inflated.

Scott Cook had some great pieces, including four triple grind daggers, one stunner in Ladder pattern Damascus that was a joy to behold. Fit and finish is all you would expect from a man of Scott’s background, and he is really showing his stuff with this work.

Larry Chew had his Voodoo bearing system laid out for interested parties, and his DA stuff is both slick and intricately beautiful. Phil Boguszewski sold all but one by the time I left, so I guess he had a good show. Bladeart had a nice set up, including a Gibbs Madd Max on hand. Just what is the pocket clip on that knife for, anyway?

Lots of good folks in the crowd, I especially enjoyed getting a look at the pieces sas had brought along, Carson, Onion, Mayo, Martin, nice stuff.

Sorry I had to split, I’m stuck back stage and they are probably all deep into cocktails by now. Showtime, gotta run!

I had a great time at the show. Brought some friends along. Met Larry from Bladeart, Tom Mayo, and many others. Did my part to stimulate the economy too by taking a few from lesser known makers home with me (glad I'm working again).

First I helped keep the factories rolling with a little auto from California Knives. Then a very wide (1.5") 3" (blade)long drop point hunter from Barry Posner. It had a beautiful wooden handle held with 5 mosaic pins, flat grind to the spine, etc., just the way I like them. I can tell this is going to be my favorite.

Not to stint though, I ended up with two up-swept skinners (what I need with two of them I don't know), one from D.B. Fraley (4" blade, conventional utility style micarta handle at $125), and another much more elaborately done one from Jo Lynn Dawson, the only woman knife maker I met at the show. Her handle work was particularly interesting, not to mention the nice file work on the spine and a very nicely hollow ground 3" blade, all for $115!

My friends liked the show too, and each ended up with a souvenier, albeit, they both came away with factory knives. But not to worry. I came away with only a factory knife from my first couple of custom shows. Look at me now! I'll try to post some pics on my own web site and then point you at them. Hope I can get to that by the middle of this week. We'll see...

Had a great time though. Very much enjoyed what I discovered. Knife shows are fun, and knife people are the nicest around.

James,

I'll be interested to hear how you like the TNT. I know you are a big fan of Sebenzas (I was too... until I got my hands on some TALONITE....) and would be interested in your opinion on how they compare...
