Here's the balance point on my Waki with the micarta scales (this is the black coating/black micarta):

Can someone post a pic with the balance point on the G-10 scales?

I gotta admit, I'm diggin these micarta handles. I like how the handles change color when it gets wet from water and sweat and stuff. It's like a mood ring when fighting zombies.

Good stuff P

And I like that about micarta; with G10, I can't change the color...but you can have a grey handle or really black handle at any given time with the BCM .

It's not worth posting a pic - the balance on my G10 is less than the width of that sharpie away from where yours is. The balance point is basically right on the point where the plunge line meets the choil.

As I've said before, there is VERY LITTLE difference in the feel of the two handles.

If I were blindfolded, I am not at all confident that I could tell the difference between them by feel.

Psssh!! Newb!! :D Hahaha.

I've felt other g10/micarta slabs where the difference was more obvious, but for whatever reason, on the waki there is very little difference between them, feel-wise.

With smooth, hand-shaped slabs, I can feel the difference immediately, just due to texture, but for the rope-type pattern cut on the waki, along with the long blade and boatload of steel in the knife, the difference between the two is minimal.

I'm just busting your balls.

Yeah, I know - but it's very true that, in a lot of cases, there is a significant difference in feel between G10 and micarta on the same knife. The waki is sort of an anomaly.

I went with the micarta because it was cheaper plus most people agreed it would be noticeably more comfortable after prolonged chopping. I don't know if that is the case as my only G10 handle is on a brand new skinny ash

well i notice the difference in these handle materials to the point where i have recently decided that without doubt i prefer g10 and res c over micarta. it is the waki that sealed this up for me. i'm fine with micarta but since the waki i will probably choose g10 over micarta whenever i have the choice. it's a very slight gummy feel that i can sense when i'm holding micarta that changes depending on the conditions. i don't get that with g10.
