Reading Mr. Jones' thread (maker, piece, price) left me with a question but I didn't want to hijack his thread by taking it in another direction so I'm starting this one. If this has all been hashed out before somewhere I'll apologize in advance and take my chances
.
At what point do maker's price increases balance out or negatively impact market demand?
Can collectors and/or dealer's promote a maker's work too much? I'm thinking here about aftermarket price increases causing a drop in demand or the maker's price rising because of what their work is going for in the aftermarket.
Are investment-minded collectors looking for stable, long-term growth (5-10 years or more)? Or are the majority looking for short-term profits (1-2 years).
Have a good one,
Nathan
