I'm sure this question has been asked before, but what is the best way to keep your balisong blade in mint condition(besides not using it)? I guess what I really want to know is what is the difference between tuff-cloth and tuff- gilde? Is one better than the other or do I need both?

The biggest risk to your blade is probably manipulation. You can see tips for protecting from this dammage at

Most balisong blades are made from the very stainless stainless steels like 440. Very little maintenance is necessary. If you use it, clean it off. Tuff Cloth is great, but expensive (Tuff Cloth is just a piece of cloth in a pouch with a little Tuff Glide on it). You can get a silicon gun and reel cloth at any gun shop for a couple of bucks and for most bali blades this will do just fine.

Some folks praise Tuff Glide as a lubricant. I've never tried it. I've been using Militec-1 and getting great results.
