Ok, I happen to have this ftp site running
on my computers.. where I have a balisong
folder where I keep all the vids I've
downloaded from you people, including
all the vids from Clay's site...
and some other stuff...

I'm thinking I could give you an
account and a password and let you
access the site. I could put an upload
folder there as well so you can upload
the files and save some bandwidth.
(I have a T3 line, very fast)...

I think it could benefit everyone...

But... I think I need permission from
you people... after all, it's your
copyrighted material....

What do you think?

That sounds like a great idea.

I'm speaking as a prospective leech only, because I have no means to record myself manipulating. :( That could change over summer break, if I ever figured out a way to get from camcorder to computer or if my parents get a digital camcorder.

Peacefrog, I just got a Hauupgage WinTv Go TV tuner for my PC and it allows you to connect a camcorder to it and digitize and save any video you have.

I picked it up from Staples for $50. I don't use it for this purpose but it sounds like an easy solution if you dont want to buy a digital camera.

That sounds interesting, I'm assuming it's a PCI board? Do you just hook up S-Video and audio cords to it as if it were a VCR? Thanks for the tip, Yoda, I may have to look into that if I ever get some spare cash.

And Bloody Knuckles, yeah your site is great! But it's always good to have a mirror, right? And maybe his T3 is faster than your host or something.

edit: I was just looking at the Hauppage web page...that external USB hookup looks like the best choice for me (cheap and easy). :)

why don't bloodyknockles and gigante get together and make this site? i think that wouldn't be such a bad idea - gigantes t3 and xjeffx's videos... what do you say? :D

Sounds interesting...........

Actually I've been considering the release all of my current material for anyone that wants to run mirror sites of B-X.

I think if I could get the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced sections on other servers, I could clear my site and put up a bunch of new stuff.

Now THAT sounds great, Clay! I know my school offers some amount of space for a web site but I don't know any details. I go back in a few weeks and I'll check and see if it's enough space and bandwidth for me to put up a mirror.

sounds good enough, but be VERY careful going through schools. they could flip out and expell you on zero tolerance for weapons rules.

Good point, but I have been meaning to check with Campus Police about weapons anyhow, seeing as there is a contradiction in the policy and I want to at least get the rules clarified. Web-wise, I think I'm safe. Can anyone see an interpretation of the following rules that might get me?

1. Students and student organizations may post pages that are consistent with the public, non-profit educational mission of the College and are in compliance with all applicable College regulations and state and federal laws, including those prohibiting obscenity, defamation or copyright infringement.

2. The posting of obscene materials is unlawful and users are specifically cautioned against linking to sites that contain such materials, even if the site has other useful content.

3. The College is a non-commercial user of the web and student use of the web through the conduit of the College's web site must remain non-commercial. No money-making activity may be conducted through the use of the College's web site.

4. The College is not responsible or liable for material in violation of these requirements or applicable laws. Students and student organizations are responsible for the content of their postings and for ascertaining the copyright status and obtaining all necessary permissions or licenses for any material used.

5. The terms and conditions governing use of the College's Web site are based on the College policies noted in the Student Handbook which include, but are not limited to, the honor code, prohibitions against harassment, violations of the law, responsible computer use, and sanctions for failure to comply with College and legal requirements.

So far 2:

Item #3 will prevent Clay from selling his BalisongExtreme sheaths and CD's. I read that to be only for non-profit selling.

Item#4 may be an issue if Virginia classifies the balisong as an illegal weapon. But this one is open to interpertation.

d'oh! Forgot about xtreme sheathworks. Guess if I do get a mirror up I can't include that part, or even a link to it. :( And bali's are (I am fairly certain) not illegal in VA, unless concealed or with a dagger blade. However, I do want to check city/county laws. Would the public library be a good place to do that?

Ok, I'll do like this: I will clean up my folder structure a bit so it's presentable, then I'll give you folks access. And if anyone complains I'll remove the material.
I also have a bunch of martial arts-related videos and stuff so I think you're gonna like it.
AND... tomorrow a friend is coming over with a video camera, we're gonna shoot lots of bali/nunchaku movies and try to convert them to digital format.. 8-)
