Whaaaaaaat!?!?!? you say. Me too. No half decent ideas come past 12AM right? On my way home from work at midnight I decided to switch off the radio and listen to myself a little. The title describes the conversation. Anyways... a bushcraft knife, like a classic mora, doesn't need to be a chopper, just a precise cutter that's strong enough to baton if the situation arises. A balisong is a wicked strong, if not the strongest folder design there is. Why the hell can't we make a folding bushcraft knife that you can baton like a fixie? Not sure why we need a folder like this but it sure would be handy to say the least. Please help me find one or help me build one! GAH can't sleep.

This thread certainly has me chuckling.

I'd still have my fixed blade on me though.

If I had one of these (won't be long) I'd probably pair it with a folding camp axe... ? haha

Those folding pukos have plastic handles. I don't think it would hold up well to batoning.

one red and one black. made by the original manufacturer. hackman was only the distributor.

A maker called Bernie Garland in England makes one.

IDK...I baton my SAK so I am not sure what the problem is. A good sharp knife and some skill training in use of a knife should allow it to work fine. You won't be splitting hardwood logs anyway.

I think you are confusing lack of blade movement when the knife is in the locked position, with strength. All of the butterfly knives I've seen and held have two, relatively small, pivot pins or screws holding the blade to the handles. I don't believe they would last very long under batoning.

The first Bali I made was geared towards these needs. It is a brute tank entirely made of 3/16" 1095.
