Balisong Identification

I was just sitting here, thinking back to what got me started on Balisongs. Then I remembered my first and realized that I haven't seen anything like it since. I don't have a picture, but if this description rings a bell, I'd love to know what I had. It had a weehawk style blade with large etchings in both side. Side one had some decorative oriental designs and the other had similar foreign writings and the english word "FIJI" or "FUJI". The handles where solid brass and had, what I think is called, an open spine (where you could see straight down on the blade spine or edge through the handles). I'm guessing its an out of production cheapie, but then again, the thing never really needed adjustment or pin replacement in the time I owned it. It was pretty nice from what I can remember.

Oh yeah, the guy I got it from told me his father found it after a chinese gang fight in Chicago. Then again, he also said he had one of those hoverboards from Back to the Future 2.

Thanks!

Sorry, I can't help with the bali identification, but if your friend wants to sell that hoverboard then I'd be real interested!

Did it have the same hole sequence as BM balisongs? Also, did it have 2 tang pins?

Valor made those, it had "FIJI" on the blade next to some oriental characters. I don't know if you had one with a 4" blade or a 3" blade but they were around $20-$30 back in the '80s. The one with 4" blade and brass handles was the 569 FIJI and the 3" blade with brass handles was the 568 FIJI. They also made these with ss handles and those were the same price.

Cameron, I think you're right. It was a 4". Do you see any around these days? I'd love to get one. Thanks for the info.

The only place I've ever seen one is a picture in Jeff Imada's THE ADVANCED BALISONG MANUAL which is a great book since, besides techniques and general information, it has a catalog in the back (not an ordering catalog or anything, it just shows pictures and information about some balisongs).
