Balisong are often linked to martial arts, particularly FMA. But do you know
- what are the styles which teach balisong techniques,
- what are the styles which use balisong as a "daga", as a knife, in their knife-fighting routines.

Guillaume,

By 'balisong techniques' I assume you mean openings? My style, Lucaylucay Kali, teaches the Balisong as part of the curriculum. My instructor, Guro Ted Lucaylucay, showed us the simple openings we needed to get it ready for combat. He showed us how to use it as a yawara/pocket stick and how to transition to the open position for fighting in the flow and that was it. Everything else was 'just flash' for fun and ego.

As to the 'Balisong as daga' question, once your Balisong is open it's just a 4, 5, or 6 inch knife. The only time something Balisong specific came up was when some of us were working espada y daga. We would already be using the primary stick/sword and practice drawing and opening the Balisong in the flow of the technique, with left hand.

I know Greg Alland of Pekiti-Tirsia fame likes the Balisong and is quite skilled manipulating one.

I've seen him on video and in person, very smooth and teaches it as far as I know, in the Arts he teaches as well.
