Hey guys, do any of you have any good balisong stories? You know, like nasty cuts, self defense, or run-ins with the law. I have no stories whatsoever, so I just wanted to hear about some of your experiences.

Once I accidentally took my Jag to the mall!! OOoooo, I'm a dangerous one!!

Once my dad was throwing pine cones at me and I was hitting them with a stick I found, he was about 35-50 feet away and he threw a pine cone, all-of-a-sudden I reached down to my 3rd pocket and drew my wave rostfrei and slashed the pine cone in air (of course I did a basic horiz. opening to get it open

).

I don't carry my balisongs outside of my property (on purpose at least) and I don't use them for utilitarian purposes since that is why I have other knives. All I do with my balisongs is flip them 'til they drop (well, til I drop, they drop every few minutes

I'm new to manipulating balisongs (but that will hopefully change soon with Clay's great website!), so the only story I have now is that both, my right and left hands are slashed up, which means I have to take a short sabitical from balisongs until they heal

I do carry my jaguar with me in that cheap sheath it comes with--I wouldn't dare take my 42 with me, too precious to risk confiscation. I even take the Jag to work and fidget with it while programming COM. It makes a nice thinking tool

I remember as a kid at age 9-10, my Dad used to take me to the gun shows in LA, back when most things were legal. My Dad was a gun nut while I just collected the cheap balisongs and knives in general. After the law changes, all that stopped. Not sure what happened to my butterflys, they might have been worth something now.

Nasty cuts? Never really had any nasty cuts, just TONS of 'em all over my right hand (I stopped counting at 50), my left hand never had to experience a whole lot of cuts since it learned from my right hand's mistakes.

I don't know how good they are, but I got lot's of stories. I remember about 12 years ago, I was buying Tarlor butterfly knives for about $12 each and selling them out at the flea market. A customer came along, who was over 18 & kept insisting that he knew what he was doing. He was interested in a double bladed knife I had. These were Japan made knives and the blade was really sharp on it. He cut himself really good with it. The blood was flowing pretty good and he kept trying to soak it up with a cheap napkin. The problem was, he would not stop, he kept insisting he knew how to use that knife, he kept cutting himself again with it and would soak up more blood with the napkins. Finally, he ended up paying me for it, and that was the last double bladed butterfly I ever ordered in. Recently it occured to me, that maybe I should include a bandaid in with every knife I sell

The double bladed ones I would have to include about 5 bandaids

I got lot's more stories if you want to hear them. Thanks, JohnR7 www.Balisongknife.com

I consider demonstrating in stores SOMETIMES, but never with a double-sided. thing is, you'll probably crack under the pressure anyway so its not worth it.

and as for my stories......hmm.......I've cut myself PLENTY of times, no stitches yet though. I once was in a chesepeake knife and tool playing with a BM42 and I was holding it a LITTLE too close to the counter, so when i went to do a basic verticle swing, it made a nice colliding sound with the glass counter. neither the bali or the counter were hurt, but I felt kind of stupid after it.

I also usually carry three or four knives on my; all different kinds of blades for different purposes. I wear my jag all the time except at school. I wear generally baggy clothes and I ALWAYS wear a jacket, so you could only see the very bottom of the sheath IF I lifted my arms up. so other than my Jag, I usually carry this lighter/OTF knife combo (1.75" blade and the blade stops if anything is in its path, so it's legal) and a kabutan/knife thing. you unscrew the top and screw it back in and you've got a small fixed blade knife. thats also legal. then I used to carry my pocket knife with me, but I dont anymore.

what I really want is a 3" bali with a 2.5" (or really close to 2.5) blade. then I would finally have something I could carry with me all the time and I'd always have a great blade with me for science class (I find that I use my knife in there every single day).

When I was in high school I almost broke a window on the bus. Those windows are a lot tougher than I ever quessed, when the handle of my 44 hit the window I though for sure it broke, everyone on the bus heard the "crack".

Best Bloody Balisong Tale

We had a booth at the Long Beach Internationals, selling and demonstrating various Balisongs (this was in the 80's before California went nuts). At about 8 in the evening a 40 year old black belt, still in his gi, came to the booth with his wife and a friend. He asked to see a couple of different balisongs, which I laid out. he picked up one in each hand and began twirling. I was impressed at first, until I saw drops of red flying off both hands. I yelled at him to stop and he said he knew what he was doing and started going even faster. His wife and friend noticed the blood and tried to get him to stop and finally had to grab his arms to stop him. He was cut on almost every possible part of both hands and bleeding like a stuck pig. It turns out he had lost his championship fight and had gone to the beer bar to drown his sorrows. On the way out he spotted our booth and decided to impress his wife and friend with his skills. It took me almost 30 minutes to mop up the blood. If this happened today, with all the HIV scares, we would have had to burn the booth to the ground.

what a egotistical moron, he should know when to quit, I don't think he impressed his girlfriend very well.

everyone here knows about my ''run in with the law'' so won't go into that.but once when my friend was drunk he decided to try out his new throwing knives on me(rather my back!!)!

This one happened just 5 minutes ago. I was wathing this show on USA called Strip Poker and got highly distracted while doing windmills and I lost track of which handle I was hold. I then switched to a basic horizontal and happened to be holding the bite handle. went to bounce the blade off of my finger and wham, about an inch long slice on the top of my index finger. Damn thing won't stop bleeding either. But I have to admit, the extreme red of my blood on the silver TI handles and stainless blade looks very artistic. If I had a cam I'd take a picture.

here's a story in the making: right now at this very moment there is a package with my Dad's name on it containing two Benchmade 42's. and you know what the interesting part is? I CANT SEE THEM TILL CHRISTMAS!!!!!! ::breaks down crying:: :*(
just 27 days left. patients. it is a virtue.
well at least I know i'll have them for christmas
