Balisong Trainer's

So this may be a stupid question, but do balisong trainers qualify as balisong knives? Just wondering if they'd be legal in a balisong illegal area. Thanks.

Truth be told there's not been court decisions on the matter to my knowledge, and it no doubt would be a varied matter by jurisdiction. Some jurisdictions have "weapon of like kind" language and it is possible that a trainer is still considered a stabbing implement even if dull. Plenty of murders are done with butter knives or pointed bits of scrap metal. It could also be possible for a trainer to be used in a menacing way (much like a fake gun). It probably would depend on how the knife was discovered.
