Balisongs in New York

After looking at the laws I didnt see anything mentioning balisongs being illegal, only switchblades and gravity knifes. I just wanted to check here to make sure wether there legal in NY or not.

Balisongs are illegal in New York City but I read that some court case decided balis are not gravity knives, and thus not illegal in the state. In the city, however, balis are considered gravity knives (to my knowledge).

Balisongs are not listed in any section of the Penal Law as being illegal by design, however the NYPD legal division has stood stead fast that they are gravity knives. There are five separte courst cases in NYS ( outside the city) that all have come to the conclusion that they are not gravity knives solely on the basis that they do not lock open without an additional action required. This all said they could be defined as "dangerous knives" and the same charge could be brought against the person in possession of one. If you have a collection that you want to keep in your house, then go buy a fishing license and a fishing pole and you will be OK to have them at home or while going to and from fishing.

do anyone know if balisong trainers are legal to carry in new york city? i preordered the typhoon just for that purpose...
