Hey guys. I've got a few spare bucks and I'm thinking about buying a new ball bearing flipper. I've got a few ZT's and a couple Brous knives. What I'm curious about is what USA companies make ball bearing flippers besides ZT and Brous? I can't afford any customs right now so it has to be production or mid-tecs. Can you guys give me some ideas to go look at?

Ferrum Forge is gonna be putting out their XL Stingers soon.

I'd get one myself but I'm scared the CBSA will seize it.

They seized one flipper, let a couple in, now another one is stuck in customs. I reckon their new protocol is drowning them in paper work and correspondence lol so hopefully they back off. But yeah, I ain't gambling 600usd on getting a Stinger through which makes me so sad

But yeah, FFKW are definitely worth consideration

^ What he said. My favorite EDC ball bearing flippers! The FFKW/Gavko Spinner collaborations are still around too, if you are looking for a smaller knife. The Stinger XL is a big boy!

Emerson Sheepdogs have bearing pivots, as do most Curtiss knives. Hobacks as well, I believe. Southern Grind's Penguin is a bearing flipper that's relatively undiscussed around here for some reason (probably the price). Microtech makes or has made a few in the past (matrix, mini matrix, I think the DOC has thrust bearings, and the Sigil). Spartan Blades' Pallas flipper is supposed to be pretty good as well. Lastly, the Freeman 451 is a bearing button lock flipper.

And after the posts that precede this one, I think we may have successfully named every company producing bearing flippers in the US.

Edit: Nevermind, forgot about the Buck Marksman

I thought Southern Grind had their knives made in Asia.

The Southern Grind Penguin is a great knife. Bearings, Full Ti Handles, Great Flipping Action and made in Atlanta, Georgia. I can not think of another knife as thin in profile, with the same overall size, that has a flipper, that is made in the USA. The Spartan Blades Pallas is also a great knife and something to consider. One last one to take a look at, that is also rarely discussed, is the Heretic Wraith.
